Finished Film Poster

Above is my finished poster for my film "The Mask." As you can see I have took certain codes and conventions into consideration through the production of this poster. Such as the dark colouring and the simplistic design to make the poster appealing and effective towards target audiences. In addition the use of the main image, as it has been edited through desaturating the image and adding an gradient to it, so the overall view looks unique, because it looks like somebody is looking straight at this image through their eyes.

Production Log

Location Shots

Below are shots of are filming location which took place in Croxeth Park, Liverpool.

We decided to film at this location because, as our film genre was horror, we wanted to create a sense of mystery and suspense. And I feel this film location fitted the bill. As we filmed early in the mornings so there was a mist around the location which helped us create the sense of mystery. In addition the woodlands around this location was great to include running scenes. In addition I feel the location we picked set the tone for our trailer as we could film night or day, as the trailer would still be cold and spooky as we wanted.

Risk Assessment

  1. Before starting work: Before starting work I briefed the crew about the dangers of the studio and the park we were filming the trailer.
Safe Working: I had to make sure that when we were in the studio and the park that the environment was safe. We had breaks every hour and was always aware of potential hazards.
Upon Completion: I got feedback off my crew to see if they experienced any hazards.
The weather: we made sure that everyone had the appropriate clothing on whilst shooting the trailer.
The fire alarm cannot be heard in the studio.
Electrical Wires: we had to make sure that the wires were put to one side so we didn't fall whilst we were in the studio

Magazine Design

Mock up of Poster

Above is my design plan for my poster, the background will be black while the main image will consist of the masked man, however there will be a gradient added on the image so, he will blend in with the background to make the poster look effective. The title will be placed below is red writing with a white glow. The tag line above the poster will state "Silence is Golden" the text font colour will be white so it stands out within the poster.

I feel the initial design of this poster is good, as it contributes to a horror poster perfectly, as I have took on board the codes and conventions used in similar posters with the unique skills and techniques I have used which will be displayed through my final draft of the poster.

LDL Error

Thankfully most of my work was retrieved, however some work never came back therefore I have to start these pieces of work again. Thankfully only my poster and magazine was lost, so I will start to recreate them as soon as possible.
